DR. Zacch Adedeji, PhD, FCA

Dr. Zacch Adelabu Adedeji is an accomplished chartered accountant, financial management expert and public sector administrator with over two decades of professional experience in corporate finance, taxation, economic policy and public financial management. He currently serves as the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), formerly the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), where he provides strategic leadership for the administration of federal taxes and the mobilisation of government revenue. He was appointed Executive Chairman of FIRS by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in September 2023 and has continued to lead the institution following its transition to the Nigeria Revenue Service in January 2026.
His professional career began in the private sector, where he gained extensive experience in financial management, corporate accounting and business administration. He worked with Procter & Gamble, a multinational consumer goods company, rising to the position of Corporate Finance Manager for West Africa. His responsibilities included financial planning, commercial analysis and the management of corporate financial operations across regional markets.
Dr. Adedeji subsequently served as Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Revenue before his appointment as Executive Chairman of FIRS in September 2023. Under his leadership, the revenue authority introduced institutional reforms focused on improving tax administration, strengthening compliance and adopting technology-driven revenue collection systems. He has championed the modernisation of tax processes, improved taxpayer services and greater coordination among government institutions responsible for revenue mobilisation.
Following the enactment of the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, 2025, Dr. Adedeji oversaw the transition of FIRS into the Nigeria Revenue Service, which commenced operations under the new tax framework in January 2026. His administration has supported the implementation of Nigeria's tax reform legislation, the introduction of electronic invoicing and the development of digital platforms to improve tax assessment, reporting and compliance. These initiatives include the National Electronic Invoicing and Electronic Fiscal System and Rev360, which are intended to strengthen transparency, operational efficiency and the administration of Nigeria's tax system.
Beyond his responsibilities at the NRS, Dr. Adedeji serves as Chairman of the Joint Revenue Board (JRB), where he contributes to the coordination of tax administration across federal and state revenue authorities. He has also participated in international engagements on domestic resource mobilisation, taxation and illicit financial flows, including the African Union's 2026 Sub-Committee meeting on Tax and Illicit Financial Flows held in Abuja.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN). His professional background combines corporate financial management, fiscal policy development and institutional leadership, providing a foundation for his contributions to Nigeria's revenue administration and economic governance.
Dr. Zacch Adedeji continues to champion reforms aimed at strengthening Nigeria's fiscal capacity, improving voluntary tax compliance and developing a modern, technology-driven revenue administration system. His leadership remains focused on improving domestic revenue mobilisation and supporting sustainable national economic development.
