Dr. Vincent O. Olatunji CPPPS,CDPO,FIIM

Dr. Vincent O. Olatunji is an accomplished public administrator, information technology specialist and data protection expert with over three decades of experience in public sector management, digital governance and policy development. He currently serves as the National Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), where he leads Nigeria's regulatory efforts to protect personal data, promote privacy rights and strengthen public confidence in the digital economy.

His professional career includes extensive service at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), which he joined in 2002. He rose through various positions to become a Director in 2014 and Acting Director-General in 2016. As Director of eGovernment Development and Regulations, he coordinated the development of several national digital transformation policies and frameworks, including the Nigeria Interoperability Framework, Nigeria eGovernment Enterprise Architecture, Cloud First Policy, Government Digital Service Policy and Nigeria Data Protection Regulation.

On 4 February 2022, Dr. Olatunji was appointed the pioneer National Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Data Protection Bureau (NDPB). Following the enactment of the Nigeria Data Protection Act in June 2023 and the Bureau's transition to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, he was appointed the pioneer National Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on 11 October 2023.

Under his leadership, the Commission has advanced the implementation of the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023, and developed the Nigeria Data Protection Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (2023–2027). He has championed regulatory compliance, professional capacity development, public awareness and international cooperation on data privacy. His administration has also overseen the introduction of the General Application and Implementation Directive (GAID) to guide the practical enforcement of Nigeria's data protection legislation.

Dr. Olatunji holds a Bachelor's degree in Geography from Ondo State University, now Ekiti State University, and Master's and Doctoral degrees in Geography and Planning from the University of Lagos. He also holds an advanced qualification in Computer Studies. He is a Certified Public-Private Partnership Specialist (CPPPS), a PECB Certified Data Protection Officer (CDPO) and a Fellow of the Institute of Information Management (FIIM).

He is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and the Nigeria Computer Society. He was recognised among Nigeria's 100 Leading Telecom and ICT Personalities in 2018 and named among the country's Top 50 Digital Economy Enablers in 2023. He became a member of the Forbes Technology Council in 2023 and was appointed Chair of the Anglophone Countries' Committee of the Network of African Data Protection Authorities in 2025.
